Bellaire B & B

Reasons to make the Bellaire B&B your weekend destination this May:

No. 1: Stunning rooms, done up to the last detail—think shamelessly soft sateen sheets, cookies by the bed, to-die-for décor.

No. 2: An afternoon wine reception at check-in and a morning-after breakfast that will render you useless until dinner (at which point, lucky you, the inspired brew-pub concoctions of Short’s Brewery and ultra-fine dining of Lulu's Bistro wait around the corner).

No. 3: Every Saturday in May, co-innkeeper and professional landscaper Jim Walker is offering a Saturday gardening seminar. Choose from a perennial garden primer, a class on gardening for color all season long, low-maintenance gardening, putting the garden to bed for winter or gardening for native plants and animals.

The cost is $50 per person for each seminar, which includes all handouts, materials and a fabulous lunch prepared for you on site. Non-guests are welcome, but here's some incentive to make a weekend of it: Guests who sign up for seminars receive 25 percent off their room's nightly rate. Rooms 80+; singles receive a 10 percent discount. 800-545-0780.
