Break a World Record with the Suttons Bay Floatilla
Saturday, September 1st the Guinness World Book record for canoes and kayaks rafted together will be challeneged. The world record of 1,902 canoes and kayaks was set last fall in a little town in Upstate NY. The new goal is more than 2,000 canoes and kayaks! This will be a spectaularly beautiful and unique event. Join this great family friendly paddling event. Local food vendors will be offering a diverse selection of food and drink. Explore the Corn Maze at Gill's Pier Winery
Leelanau County's newest corn maze will be having a grand Labor Day Weekend opening on Saturday, September 1st from 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. (last entry at 5:00 p.m.). There will be a community ribbon cutting at 11:00 a.m., along with live music and food featuring Apache Trout Grill's award winning ribs. Tickets are $10 and include lunch and corn maze admission.

Group Together at the Stone Circle Gathering
Saturday, September 1st is the last Stone Circle Gathering of the season. Poetry, storytelling and music are featured at this unique outdoor amphitheater. Poet bard Terry Wooten will host the gatherings beginning at 9:00 p.m. around the fire. Sit under a canopy of stars perched on a boulder, or bring a blanket or chair to enjoy the ever-changing variety of entertainment that is woven throughout the evening. Stone Circle is located ten miles north of Elk Rapids off US 31.

Saturday of Labor Day Weekend in Northern Michigan is your last chance to see fireworks decorate the sky over Moran Bay in downtown St. Ignace, for Fireworks Over the Bay! See an Outdoor Movie By The Bay
American Legion Park, on the bay in St. Ignace, will be transformed into an outdoor movie theater Sunday, September 2nd for the last Outdoor Movies by the Bay event of 2012. Come one, come all to this free, family-friendly event! Movie will begin at dusk so start and end time will vary. Snack on free popcorn or enjoy other concessions available for purchase. So pack up the kids, grab your chairs and blankets, and come enjoy an outdoor movie alongside beautiful Lake Huron!
Get Active for the 55th Annual Labor Day Bridge Walk: St. Ignace to Mackinac City
Join thousands of pedestrians as they participate in a long standing tradition, the Northern Michigan Labor Day Bridge Walk with Governor Snyder. The walk begins at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, September 3rd in St. Ignace and concludes at 11:00 a.m. in Mackinaw City. This is the only day of the year that walking the Mackinac Bridge is allowed, so grab your walking shoes and head to the "Mighty Mac!"
Take a Walk for the Labor Day State Street Bridge Walk in Cheboygan
This annual Northern Michigan Labor Day Weekend walk begins on the east side of the State Street Bridge, proceeds over the bridge and onto Water Street and finishes in Washington Park, where hot dogs, chips and refreshments will be served.
Learn at the "The Labor of Logging" Program
The logging of the white pine in the 19th century was a highly labor intensive industry. From the fellers and sawyers who cut the trees, the teamsters and loaders who loaded the sleds and drove the horses and the river hogs that sent the logs down the rivers to the saw mills, logging was an extremely hard job. This 90 minute program introduces the various jobs in a logging camp, the working conditions in a logging camp and what the pay was for these jobs. This special program, held at Hartwick Pines State Park, September 3rd, celebrates Labor Day in Northern Michigan with a historical perspective.

Take a leisurely walk through the community of Victorian cottages on the edge of Petoskey. Fore! For the 38th Annual Kircher Cup at Boyne Highlands in Harbor Springs
Two person amateur teams from around the Midwest compete in this 54-hole better ball competition held on the Heather, The Moor and Arthur Hills courses at Boyne Highlands Resort in Northern Michigan. The Kircher Cup is named after the founding family of Boyne Resorts and the names engraved on the cup are a venerable "who's who" of Michigan amateur golf. Divisions include Championship, Mid-Senior and Senior.
