For 18 years, bartender Jerri Lee Richards has never missed a day of work at her job at Boyne Mountain’s Snowflake Lounge (231-549-6001), the North’s first slopeside bar. We presented the veteran mixologist with a few ski-day scenarios and asked her to prescribe a libation for each:
First, I’d ask if they needed a bag of ice, of course, if they had any bumps or bruises. Sometimes a little cognac in some coffee might ease their aches.
That’s easy—a shot of Jäger from our Jägermeister machine. I’d announce it through the bar. Of course, if it was a child who had just had a successful day on the hill, I’d make them a big hot chocolate. With extra whipped cream and a cherry.
Well, I’d probably suggest some top-shelf margaritas … no, a bottle of wine. And then I’d point the couple to the hot tub so they could unwind and have a romantic evening.
Right, if they’re still speaking to one another. Teaching your significant other to ski … that’s generally not recommended.
