Everett Kircher probably didn’t know he was laying down the foundation for an empire when he bought a tract of hilly Northern Michigan land for a single dollar back in 1947. Two years later, the two-run, one-lift ski resort opened, and Boyne Mountain became the seed for what is now North America’s largest family-owned resort network. To commemorate the 60th anniversary, festivities (including fireworks, entertainment and more) will be held the weekend of January 9-11.
