There is a reason all Michigan kids take all the same field trips. The fact is, we've got the best field trips any kid (or teacher) could ask for. Unfortunately sometimes teachers are a little less-than-creative about their choices. Here are a few of our all time favorite (for better or worse) Up North field trips, what are yours?
Two hours on a boat rising then lowering in a cement-walled chamber. Views of the steel mill and Sault Canada’s industrial backend. For future engineers in class: a globally significant marvel. For the rest: Are we there yet?
Nature walk, sawpit, sawmill—class getting antsy. But wait. This park isn’t as predictable as it once was. New: a soaring zip-line, challenging climbing wall and heart-thumping rope bridge over a river. Chaperones happy.
Fish fingerlings swarming in tanks. 30,000 of the fattest rainbows and brown trout you’ve ever seen finning in another tank nearby. Even an underground window that looks into a flowing stream (habitat study, dontcha know?). Young anglers and fish-biologists to be: enthralled. The rest: Do they sell ice cream here?
