Times Square, move over. For the third year in a row, a bright dazzling cherry will drop at the corner of Front and Cass Streets in Traverse City on New Year's Eve 2012. Bundle up, bring your nonperishable items to donate to area food pantries and enjoy an evening of outdoor entertainment. Music and entertainment start at 9:30—but get there early, you'll be celebrating with as many as 8,000 people. No open alcohol is permitted on the street.
