Your outing: Take advantage of Saturday’s predicted warming temps and head out on snowshoes to explore Houdek Dunes with the Leelanau Conservancy (free). Afterward, drive north a few minutes to Fischer’s Happy Hour for one of those famous egg salad sandwiches, a bowl of chili and some hot cocoa.

Saturday, February 7th, 1 pm: The Incredible Houdek Dunes Natural Area
Got snowshoes? Strap them on and join us for a winter hike around the Houdek Dunes Natural Area near Leland. These 330-acres are waiting to be discovered as you hike with docents Judy Hoeffler and Ann Mason. Winter boots also appropriate if the snow is not too deep. Please call to register (231-256-9665).
Saturday, February 14th, 1 pm: A Sweetheart of a Hike at Chip Run
Surprise your special Valentine with a snowshoe hike around this natural area in Empire. Docents Sharon Oriel and David Harris will lead this hike through one of the most diverse conservancy natural areas. Venture over the stream, past the old orchard and through the pine plantation. Sunday, February 15th, 2 pm: Wildlife Tracking at Kehl Lake
Explore winter with a hike to discover clues to a myriad of wildlife activities that occur daily at the Kehl Lake Natural Area near Northport. Docents Ann McInnis, Ed Arnfield and Marsha Buehler are ready to help you find and identify animal tracks left by the various critters that live at Kehl Lake. Snowshoes best if snow is deep. Saturday, February 21, 6:30 pm to 11 pm: Blue at the Bluebird Tickets Now on Sale!
Join us for our annual winter Blues at the Bluebird (in Leland) featuring Eddie Shaw and the Wolf Gang.
