Dr. Andris Kazmers received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, then earned his MD degree at Wayne State University, graduating with Distinction and as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his General Surgery Residency at the University of Michigan, then went on to become the first Vascular Surgery Fellow trained at the University of Michigan in 1984. Dr. Kazmers earned his Master of Science in Public Health degree at the University of Kentucky. Academic experience includes serving as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Washington, Chief of Vascular Surgery at the University of Kentucky, and Professor of Surgery on the Vascular Surgery faculty at Wayne State University. Dr. Kazmers is a member of the Society of Vascular Surgery, American Venous Forum, International Society of Endovascular Specialties, Society for Vascular Ultrasound, Michigan Vascular Society and Society of Critical Care Medicine, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. In 2001, Dr. Kazmers joined Petoskey Surgeons. He is the only Board Certified Vascular Surgeon practicing at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey, where the vascular surgery procedures he provides include open peripheral interventions, angioplasty and stenting, endovascular and open aortic aneurysm repair, renal artery angioplasty and bypass, carotid artery surgery, mesenteric revascularization and thoracoabdominal aneurysm repair. Dr. Kazmers is Board Certified in Vascular Surgery, Critical Care Surgery and General Surgery. He has been recognized as a “Best Doctor.” He continues to dedicate his career to the evaluation and care of patients with peripheral vascular disorders.
