Apr 15, 2008 By Lynda Twardowski
Ray and Addie March built this log ballroom in 1935. It was originally named The March Inn Dance Pavilion.
Need some motivation to dust off your dancing shoes? How about free lessons? On a 3,000-square-foot suspended hardwood dance floor? One that's housed in a rustic log cabin? The Up North Big Band provides free dance lessons—basic swing, foxtrot, waltz and latin—the second and fourth Saturday of each month at
The Rustic Ballroom, a landmark historic structure in the Village of Walloon Lake. You'll learn enough to dance all evening long, which you can, because post-lesson, The Up North Big Band plays live until 10:30. Bring your own food, beverages and best moves. Smoking not permitted.
