Leland's Old Art Building will host three live reading performances by Stage Turner, a non-profit organization that strives to meld the careful craft of writing with the excitement of the stage. The third year of their subscription series includes three performances spread throughout the summer, with the first on Sunday, June 15.

The theme for the first reading was "Pencils Down!" Award-winning author Richard Peck, the special guest of the evening, read his work, collaborating with other readers Phil Murphy, Anne-Marie Oomen, Laura Ames Mittlestaedt and Tom Czarny. Tove Danovich's story "A Building" was featured, having just won a first Louise Klein Carpenter Short Fiction Contest.

Reading performances vary from one person to over half a dozen, and musicians sometimes accompany the spoken word. You may order tickets in advance; in the past, performances have sold out. On short notice, order by phone or at the door, or for a subscription to all three shows, use the order form on their website.
