Lighthouse West Area Hike with the Leelanau Conservancy

Explore scenic Lake Michigan shoreline with those who know the ins and outs of its flora and fauna.

Hike along with conservancy docents Friday morning, July 3, at Lighthouse West, one of the Leelanau Conservancy’s most beautiful protected areas. Here, 40 acres abut an undeveloped stretch of Lake Michigan shoreline that is an important stopping point for migrating birds. Hikers will be given an opportunity to participate in a "Bioblitz" to gather information for the group and the conservancy, and will be required to negotiate some steep terrain. Allow 1.5 to 2 hours to complete the hike.

Meet in the parking area on Cathead Bay Drive, five miles north of Northport at 10 a.m. Friday morning. View directions here. Visit theconservancy.com or call 231-256-9665 for more information.
