Traverse City 2013 National Cherry Festival: Each year the National Cherry Festival somehow gets better than the last. At the eighty seventh running of this Traverse City tradition, there will be a phenomenal lineup of outdoor concerts, free movies at the State Theatre, extravagant parades, and plenty of other entertainment venues to get you celebrating the cherry, the season, and the Northern Michigan life.
Take a step back to the early days of Hollywood by catching some enduring black and whites at the historic State Theatre. From the 1941 version of Mr. and Mrs. Smith to My Man Godfrey, be sure to allow time for the one of the festival's best deals, the (free) Cherry Classic Film Series.
The State usually only charges 25 cents for their Saturday morning kid’s matinee, but when admission is free it’s (somehow) even better. With Megamind set to show on June 29th and the Tale of Despereaux on the 6th, you get two chances to watch fantastic movies at a Traverse City landmark.
