Artist Spotlight: Rachael Davis

Soulful Michigan singer-strummer to release new album.

Sugar-voiced Rachael Davis, a singer-songwriter who spent much of her childhood in Cadillac, will release her new album, Antebellum Queens, at a dual release show March 20 at The Ark in Ann Arbor. Davis will be joined on stage by Steppin' In It, the lauded Lansing-based roots band that's long been a darling of the Michigan folk scene, as the band releases its own new double CD.

Davis is an Interlochen alum and a veteran musician, having performed onstage since age 2 and garnering serious recognition throughout her adult solo career—including winning the grand prize in the 2003 Telluride Bluegrass Festival's Troubadour Contest. Her impressive vocal range, skilled guitar work and nimble jazz inflections make her a powerhouse performer—on stage and in the studio—especially when she's backed by the tight harmonies and spot-on vintage sounds of the talented Steppin' In It crew. Fans of jazz greats like Sarah Vaughn and Ella Fitzgerald are in for a real thrill.

Antebellum Queens will be available for purchase online through Fox On A Hill Productions' online store. For more information on the artist, and to hear samples of her work, visit rachaeldavis.com.
