Northern Michigan Conservancy Updates: The Leelanau Conservancy preserves the land, water and scenic character of Leelanau County. Here's what to expect from the Conservancy this March 2013.
The staff agrees that all Conservancy members are going to love it! So make plans now to get out there on this well-marked trail. (A Docent-led hike is planned for May 18.) The Krumwiede trail makes a gradual, gentle ascent along an impressive ridgeline. Along the way, you’ll see a working, sustainable forest that features everything from an invasive black locust grove that the Conservancy is working to eradicate to mature northern hardwoods of all ages.
The Conservancy is pleased to bring you more great opportunities to experience different natural habitats and terrain throughout Leelanau County. They do so because of your wonderful support. The Krumwiede Forest Reserve is located along Wheeler Road near Glen Arbor.

The Conservancy will be creating a gorgeous new upland trail at the DeYoung Natural Area and needs your help! Come learn trail-building basics from pruning to cutting. Two sessions are offered to accomodate your schedule—sign up for the trainings online. (Please meet on Strang Road off of Cherry Bend Road.) Can't make these dates? Check out additional spring and summer training, workbee and hike dates and make plans to join at one of their beautiful natural areas.
Many thanks to Idyll Farms and Northwestern Bank for underwriting the year-long celebration of the Conservancy's 25th Anniversary, including the Speaker Series (first one: "What's Happening With Our Great Lakes" May 4th from 3-5 pm at the Suttons Bay Auditorium—mark your calendars now!)
The Conservancy is grateful to their Sponsors for their comittment to the mission and their enthusiasm about reaching this important milestone. Learn more about the Conservancy Sponsors here.
