Northern Michigan Conservancy Update: News For March 2013

Northern Michigan Conservancy Update: This month's news highlights the new Krumwiede Forest Reserve, volunteer trail building and the Conservancy's 25th Anniversary.

Northern Michigan Conservancy Updates: The Leelanau Conservancy preserves the land, water and scenic character of Leelanau County. Here's what to expect from the Conservancy this March 2013.

The New Krumwiede Forest Reserve: A Must-Visit!

A few weeks ago the Conservancy staff visited the new 110-acre Krumwiede Forest Reserve and hiked/snowshoed its 1.8-mile trail to learn about this beautiful property.

The staff agrees that all Conservancy members are going to love it! So make plans now to get out there on this well-marked trail. (A Docent-led hike is planned for May 18.) The Krumwiede trail makes a gradual, gentle ascent along an impressive ridgeline. Along the way, you’ll see a working, sustainable forest that features everything from an invasive black locust grove that the Conservancy is working to eradicate to mature northern hardwoods of all ages.

The Conservancy is pleased to bring you more great opportunities to experience different natural habitats and terrain throughout Leelanau County. They do so because of your wonderful support. The Krumwiede Forest Reserve is located along Wheeler Road near Glen Arbor.
