Tunnel of Trees
Why spend all Memorial Weekend with a rake in your hand when you can hop in the auto, roll down the windows and take a little road trip, you know, feeling all fresh and free.
We suggest destination Cross Village this weekend. The tiny burg up by Sturgeon Bay, reached via an enchanting 20 mile drive north of Harbor Springs on M-119, offers three sweet stops for leg-stretching and enjoyment before you head back home.
First stop is Three Pines Studio to catch the opening reception (May 23, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.) for the exhibit Pillow Talk: Form & Text and the ongoing exhibit Nikolas Burkhardt: Parable Prints. Three Pines serves up a fine and eclectic selection of media and artists—you won’t be disappointed. Next, walk over to the Cross Village Rug Works, a studio presenting a variety of rug styles made from local artisans.
For dinner, still no need to get back in the car. Just cross the street and settle in on the patio at Legs Inn. Beautiful lake view and an authentic Polish menu have made this a staple for Michigan travelers. Nice added touch: Many of the employees travel from Poland for the season, adding even more to the authenticity of Legs Inn.
