The Tri-County Coalition for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (TCCPCAN) of Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau County is dedicated to the promotion of greater public awareness of the causes, incidents and effects of child abuse and neglect; to provide the opportunity for networking, sharing and collaboration; and to help fund the development of prevention programs in Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau Counties.
The Tri-County Coalition for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (TCCPCAN), a designated local council of the Michigan Children’s Trust Fund for Grand Traverse, Leelanau, and Kalkaska Counties. Organized in 1983, and is an organization dedicated to assuring that all children in the tricounty area live in an environment free of abuse and neglect, with the generous support of our community and a coalition of dedicated volunteers.
The Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) is a TCCPCAN initiative born of the need to have a child-friendly facility both physically and psychologically safe for clients.
The primary objective of the Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center is to ensure that children are not further victimized by the intervention systems designed to protect them. Our goal is to have the facility open and operational by the end of 2010. The CAC now has it’s own Board of Directors who are working hard to make the CAC a reality.
Volunteers currently assist TCCPCAN by serving on boards and committees, fundraising and events coordination. Once open, the Children’s Advocacy Center will need volunteers for a number of special projects and tasks including site renovation, landscaping, clerical, and ongoing fundraising. To learn more about how you can volunteer, call Linda Wood, TCCPCAN Coordinator, at 231-929-4166 or Pat Lewallen, TBCAC Director, at 231-946-3746.
The CAC is in need of capital to secure a facility that will house this life changing center, and dollars to support prevention
programming. Your financial support is an investment in the future of our children and this community.
