Mission Statement

To prevent cruelty to animals and encourage positive relations between people and animals.

Brief History

Founded in 1995, incorporated & recognized as a 501C3 in 1996. AC PAW is a registered shelter and licensed to Solicit in the state of Michigan. Started as a local grass roots organization leading to an all volunteer group with our efforts towards, foster care and placement services, spay/neuter and community education. Working with the community and area animal control agencies before animals are euthanized, nearly 5,000 dogs and cats have been placed into loving homes. Currently serving between 500 & 600 animals per year. In 2004 AC PAW's founders were awarded the Community Service Award from the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association. In the fall of 2006 Brian Manley co-founder of AC PAW was awarded the Kindred Spirit Award by the Doris Day foundation. Our self assessment system is important reviews are done regularly with our key volunteers to be sure we are on track with our goals and objectives. AC PAW is committed to do no harm in the name of rescue. Proud that there will be zero population from ACPAW as all pets are spayed/neutered before adoption.

Goals

  • To serve an ever increasing number of animals in need
  • Continue our belief that a rescue organization should expect zero population growth from its rescues by spaying and neutering all animals before adoption. Strengthen our spay/neuter program to include many more community based sterilizations.
  • Provide more education/support for animals in the community through such programs as our dog housing project, youth program and community education.
