Traverse Regional Area Ticketing

Mission Statement

Enhance the economic viability, self-sufficiency and financial strength of arts organizations in the region through state of the art online ticketing, a central box office, a regional arts web portal and effective marketing programs. Enhance the role of the vibrant regional arts and entertainment community in cultural tourism and regional economic development.

Brief History

It's been the goal for the arts community to implement a regional ticketing operation for the 5 county area. Over the last year a conservative business model was developed, a consortium created and start-up funding obtained from Rotary Charities. The result is Traverse Regional Area Ticketing! Traverse Regional Area Ticketing addresses critical needs of regional arts organizations: Regional arts organizations need new vehicles to increase their financial strength and long-term sustainability. Patrons across the country are demanding more available ticketing. Organizations with advanced ticketing show increased revenue. Strong joint marketing efforts in the arts community are essential to enhance cultural tourism and regional economic growth. They seek to assist every arts organization in the region and beyond with vehicles to increase long term sustainability through wider market exposure and concrete opportunities for increasing revenues.

Goals

  • Implement on-line web based 24/7 ticketing available to all arts, cultural and non-profit organizations in the region.
  • Design and manage a regional arts web portal through which all organizations can participate in a searchable events calendar, sell tickets, merchandise, memberships and collect donations.
  • Create a central box office in downtown Traverse City open at regular hours for all organizations participating in the ticketing project.
  • Assist organizations in the development of more aggressive marketing programs to provide expanded exposure and increased revenues to these organizations.
  • Achieve these objectives in a businesslike manner with reasonable fees that generate a positive financial contribution and supports itself through its own revenues.

Volunteer Opportunities

Central Box Office staffing, good computer knowledge, flexible hours.

  • Assistance at each of the four consortium members in box office and marketing.
  • Business marketing leadership to create and implement joint marketing projects for the arts.
  • Build joint business/cultural collaborative efforts to benefit economic development.

Giving Opportunities

Business sponsorships This is a different type of non-profit organization. Business sponsors can assist a broad array of arts organizations, support collaborative partnerships and receive major promotional visibility. The founding principal is to create an organization based on sound business practices helping the arts help themselves.

Biggest Need in 2009

  • Business sponsorships
  • Organizations and venues that want to participate in this ground breaking collaborative effort.
  • Volunteers to work on developing the technical and marketing capabilities that we can offer the arts and cultural community.
