Anchor in Naubinway
Lovers of the two-lane highway have long loved the Upper Peninsula's U.S. 2. Like a long stretch of pure possibility, the road ambles west from the Might Mac all the way to Wisconsin along the Upper Peninsula's southern coast. It curves past vast tracts of the Hiawatha National Forest and seemingly endless swaths of Lake Michigan beaches, hitting classic mom-n-pop motels and routing you to roadtripper-beloved daytrip destinations galore: the kitsch-hawking Curio Fair, the World Famous Mystery Spot, and the home to the U.P.'s only wallaby, the GarLyn Zoo.
Today, we're happy to report, there's another reason to hit the brakes: the Anchor in Naubinway. An upscale Internet coffee house in the small fishing village of Naubinway, the new highway hotspot is a civilized oasis for U.S. 2 adventurers. Inside the newly remodeled space, you'll find super Schuil coffee drinks, smoothies, sandwiches, soups and salads. Free wireless Internet access is on the menu, and if you don't have your laptop handy, don't stress: laptops are available to borrow.
Don't feel like checking in with the office? There are also three large screen TVs, an assortment of gifts and even an art gallery for your lazy-day pleasure. Check out local paintings, photography, baskets, stain glass, wood carvings and dozens of other pieces.
