Small but Mighty Film Series in Northern Michigan
The Traverse City Film Festival isn't the only film series taking spotlight in Northern Michigan. See where else film buffs can flock Up North.
Northern Michigan: You’ll find foreign films, interesting indie flicks and documentaries with these three film series. Many of the movies are shown at no cost (and even include dinner in one case).
The Rialto Film Club
One special movie a month - a selection of great films from around the world. Shown in Grayling's historic Rialto Theater. See the Memphis-set football story Undefeated until September 6.
Community Cinema
An outreach project of Central Michigan University Public Television and the Dennos Museum Center at Northwestern Michigan College, these free monthly films are shown at the museum beginning in October. Lively panel discussions follow each film. The screenings are offered in more than 65 cities throughout the U.S.
Alden Off the Wall Film Series
Held the first Thursday of each month, from October through May, these free showings take place in the Helena Township Community Building. Films start at 7 p.m., with a dinner social hour starting at 6 p.m. Bring a dish to pass if you wish, though it’s not required. Friends of the Alden District Library underwrite the series. The Bay Film Series
Provocative world cinema awaits at this Suttons Bay movie house. Monthly films—a total of eight—are featured September through April. Show times are Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Subscribe to the entire series for a bargain price. Can’t make a scheduled time? Save your ticket for another flick later.
