Charlevoix

Set between Round Lake, Lake Michigan and Lake Charlevoix, and midway between Traverse City and Petoskey, Charlevoix is a favorite Northern Michigan travel destination featuring numerous Northern Michigan hotels, restaurants and attractions. The centerpiece of this lovely waterside downtown is the newly renovated East Park that adjoins the 70-slip Charlevoix City Marina on Round Lake—with accessibility to Lake Michigan. A performance pavilion, youth fountain (for kids to play in!) and large public spaces for festivals round out this spectacular park complex. Besides being the port for the ferry to Lake Michigan’s Beaver Island, Charlevoix boasts a number of public beaches on both its inland lakes and Lake Michigan, as well as the architectural treasures (known as Hobbit houses) of mid-1900’s architect Earl Young. The ferry to Lake Michigan’s Beaver Island departs from Charlevoix. The Venetian Festival, featuring a parade of boats lit up for a nighttime cruise on Lake Charlevoix, is the town’s most popular festival.
