The colors are turning in Northern Michigan and this video captures them all, as well as the dramatic skies, soaring birds and spectacular roadways of this part of Michigan. Sit back and enjoy a virtual color tour as you begin at The Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse, located at 526 North Huron Avenue in Mackinaw City.
The Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse, built in 1892, is part of the Mackinac Island State Park Commission. The lighthouse features an elegant fourth order Fresnel lense as well as a large square tower topped with battlements. The lighthouse, as well as the refurbished fog signal station and barn, sit on a beautiful beach with the Straits of Mackinac and the Mackinac Bridge as a backdrop. Walking tours by costumed interpreters, tower tours, hands-on displays and original artifacts are all part of the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse experience.
The next leg of the tour is heading south to Brutus Road, then Pleasant View Road and on to Quick Road which links to the famed M-119, the Tunnel of Trees. At one point in the video you'll see a beautiful lookout over the water which is off of M-119 on the way to Harbor Springs. Continue on to Petoskey State Park.
Petoskey State Park is picture perfect in the fall as it sits on the north end of Little Traverse Bay. The park has 304 scenic acres, miles of trails and beautiful beaches as well as two modern campgrounds. The swans in this video were shot on Spring Lake which sits right next to the park.
Get inspired by the drama, the colors, the music and the scenery in this video and then hop in the car and head out yourself!
