Barista From Traverse City’s Morsels Ready For Competition

Morsels Bakery and Coffee shop in downtown Traverse City, has announced that one of their baristas, Chuck Korson, will compete at the Intelligentsia Wholesale Barista Competition, January 9, 2011 in Chicago. The competition, which is organized in the same manner as other United States and World Barista Competitions (USBC and WBC), will be held at Intelligentsia’s roasting works and is for wholesale customers across the nation.

Competing baristas must prepare four espressos, four cappuccinos, and four signature drinks, and present them to judges over a 15-minute time period. Judging is extensive and includes many elements of taste, presentation, cleanliness, customer service skills, and overall impression. The top three competitors will receive private training with World Barista Champions Michael Phillips and Stephen Morrissey for upcoming competitions, complimentary coffee, and other perks. The judging panel will comprise of both USBC and WBC certified judges as well as members of the Intelligentsia/Ecco coffee buying team.
