In honor of the birthday of Dr. Seuss, Horizon Books of Traverse City will host a signing by Northern Michigan author, Jeffray Kessler.  Kessler’s works include the Victor the Friendly Vampire children’s series, which documents the adventures of Victor—a young, amicable vampire who lives in Northern Michigan.  The signing will take place on Sunday, March 2nd, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Horizon Books on West Front Street in downtown Traverse City.

Kessler became an avid storyteller during his tenure as an elementary school teacher, and it was his conversations with his grandson that first inspired the story of Victor the Friendly Vampire.  Victor faces the complications that many typical 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students face—like bullying—but coupled with these more typical problems are those associated with his being a vampire.  The series is made up of four books: the original Victor the Friendly Vampire, Victor and the Bullies, Victor Finds His Family, and Victor Becomes a Spy.
