Traverse City’s Old Town Playhouse will stage a production of the acclaimed Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, the Sound of Music.  The show’s opening occurs on Friday, March 7th, and performances will run Thursdays through Sundays until Saturday, March 29th.  Old Town Playhouse is located at 148 East 8th Street—just south of Traverse City—and is the home to many community theater productions.

The Sound of Music recounts the true story of an Austrian family embroiled in the tensions of World War II, and the young woman who is sent to join the family as a tutor.  First staged in 1959, The Sound of Music became an instant classic, and became an instant classic, and has since been revived in major cities throughout the world.
