What: Pentwater Winter Festival

When: Friday, February 14th and Saturday, February 15th

Where: Pentwater (a few minutes south of Ludington)

Get your freeze on at the Pentwater Winter Festival.  Events include a Friday Night Teen Dance at Pentwater’s Village Pub, beer and wine tasting, a chili cook-off, sledding, and the infamous Freezin’ for a Reason—a cold-water dunk-contest that raises money for the Crystal Valley Care fund.

What: YetiFest

When: Saturday, February 15th

Where: Suttons Bay

The 2nd Annual YetiFest is a fun-filled family-oriented festival scheduled for President’s Day weekend on Saturday, February 15th.  Suttons Bay village welcomes back their winter pal Eddie the Yeti, and this year it’s rumored that his Valentine’s Day love-interest Betty may be joining him for a day filled with snow bike races, an amateur pond hockey tournament, chili cook-off and many other related activities. This year the YetiFest adds an affordable family movie event at the historic Bay Theater.

What: The Labatt Blue Upper Peninsula Pond Hockey Championship

When: Thursday, February 13th through Sunday, February 16th

Where: St. Ignace

Enjoy the largest adult pond hockey tourney in Michigan!  On Friday, alumni from the Detroit Red Wings take to the ice for an exhibition match.  Tournament games are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, with the championship games and awards ceremony to take place on Sunday.  More than 160 teams are slated to participate in a variety of age divisions.

What: Snowshoe Hike at Arcadia Dunes

When: Saturday, February 15th, 10 am to 2 pm

Where: Arcadia (20 minutes south of Frankfort)

Take a guided 3-mile snowshoe hike along Arcadia’s storied sand dunes; see this renowned sandscape under a blanket of beautiful white snow.  The hike includes vistas of open fields, forests, dunes and, of course, spectacular Lake Michigan.

What: Shiver by the River

When: Saturday, February 15th through Sunday, February 16th

Where: Frankfort & Elberta

The 6th annual Shiver by the River will feature a slew of family-friendly activities.  Events include the Betsie Bay Frozen 5k and the Children’s Fun Run—with a share of the proceeds being donated to the On The Ground organization and their efforts to support sustainable community development in farming regions across the world.  Other featured activities are a Winter Parade, a snowmobile race, and outdoor bowling.  Yes, full-blown bowling on Frankfort’s Main Street.
