Northern Michigan fathers and grandfathers: Gents you might want to start working out. The Zonta Father Daughter dance is Saturday, April 12 at the Traverse City Country Club. Daughters don’t sit down following dinner, and dads will be taking off their ties and sport coats, trying to keep up with the younger generation on the dance floor.

Dancing with Dad

And Northern Michigan boutiques and salons should prepare for a run on party dresses and updos, as young ladies of all ages prepare for the a magical evening celebrating the special bond they have with fathers and grandfathers.

“Some dads and daughters have come for every year for 15 years,” says Joyce Gingras co-chair of the dance for Zonta, the organization behind the event. “Daughters have come home from college to attend.”

The doors open at 5:00 Saturday evening. Dads and daughters receive corsages and boutonnieres and pose for pictures.  Dinner choices include prime rib, chicken strips or vegetarian pasta. Plus there’s a craft project to entertain the girls as well.

Our marketing gal, Rachel North is touched by the prospect of her daughter attending this year’s dance with her husband. She remembers her first dance with her father in her blog.

Tickets for the Traverse City Father Daughter Dance, presented by Zonta, Saturday, April 12 at the Traverse City Country Club are available on MyNorthTickets.
