Two upcoming Northern Michigan fishing tournaments give back to noble causes: the Tight Lines for Troops in Manistee and the Islands Wildlife Pike Fishing Content in the Upper Peninsula’s Les Cheneaux Islands. Check out these Northern Michigan sports events to take your fishing to the limit.

7th Annual Islands Wildlife Pike Fishing Contest in the Les Cheneaux Islands

From Thursday, May 15th to Monday, May 26th, it’s pike pandemonium in the Les Cheneaux Islands chain east of St. Ignace. Cash prizes are awarded to the three biggest fish in each age bracket, adult and youth, as are bragging rights to the fisherman/woman wielding the largest pike. Islands Wildlife is a nonprofit fish and wildlife organization; proceeds from the contest go to local causes. Register at Cedar Pantry in Cedarville by 2pm, May 15. Call 906.484.3935 or visit LesCheneaux.net for more information.

5th Annual Tight Lines for Troops in Manistee

On Friday, May 16th and Saturday the 17th, this charity fishing tournament in Manistee helps disabled veterans have fun at no expense to them, and is a small token of gratitude for their outstanding service to our country. In addition to the charter boat fishing opportunities, the Pier, Shore and River Division has expanded to include opportunities for veterans to fish from the pier or go wading and canoeing on the beautiful Manistee river. All the awards and gifts provided are available to both divisions. Manistee, 231.723.3282, TightLinesForTroops.com.
