Northern Michigan kids can learn about healthy eating, local agriculture and Northern Michigan food and drink at the Northwestern Michigan Fair during the Cooking with Kids at the Fair event. Crystal Mountain Resort, Traverse City Area Public Schools and Oryana Natural Foods Market have teamed up to present Cooking with Kids at the Fair.

The Northwestern Michigan Fair runs from Saturday, August 2nd through Saturday the 9th at the Northerwestern Michigan Fairgrounds, located at 3606 Blair Townhall Rd.

Now in its seventh year, Cooking with Kids at the Fair encourages families to visit the Northwestern Michigan Fair on Wednesday, August 6th between 3 and 7 pm. This fun-filled event allows kids to familiarize themselves with the great tastes of healthy recipes and local foods. There is no cost to participate.

Stop by the shaded fairground gazebo, where a team of restaurant, school, and specialty chefs will teach kids about the benefits of locally-grown foods. Guests will also get hands-on experience creating and eating a fun fruity drink, pasta salad, and sandwich wrap, all locally donated. In addition, delicious seasonal recipes will be handed out so that the Cooking with Kids at the Fair lessons can continue at home.
