Bayside Brahms — Thursday, August 28th, 7:30 pm in Frankfort

Written in the unmistakable voice of Brahms, these masterpieces are rich in sonority and musical ideas. Extraordinary musicians from Detroit, Pittsburgh, Ann Arbor and Kalamazoo join together in this performance to render the musical intricacies of the string sextet. The concert takes place at the Oliver Center for the Arts in Frankfort.

Great Waters Quartet — Wednesday, September 17th , 7:30 pm in Suttons Bay

The young, gifted and refreshing Great Waters Quartet returns once again to Northwest Michigan with an enriching and diverse program; artfully performed and certain to gratify all listeners. Hear Pulitzer prize winner Jennifer Higdon’s impressionistic nod to the Maurice Ravel in her composition, Impressions. The quartet completes their program with Beethoven’s unbelievable Quartet Op. 59. This concert takes place at the Inn at Black Star Farms.

The following two events are presented by the Leelanau Community Cultural Center:

K. Jones and the Benzie Playboys — Saturday, August 30th, 7 pm in Leland

K. Jones and the Benzie Playboys is an ensemble with traditional button accordions, fiddles, and washboard combine to create an authentic Louisiana dance experience. This concert is sponsored, in part, by the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts, and takes place at the Old Art Building in Leland.

Harry Goldson Concert — Thursday, September 11th, 7:30 pm in Leland

The Harry Goldson Quintet will perform at the Old Art Building in Leland, featuring live jazz music on stage at the W.T. Best Theater. Harry will be accompanied by Dave Hay on piano, Elgin Vines on bass, Mike Van Lente on percussion, and Jim Cooper on vibraphone. A 7 pm reception will be held prior to the concert. Cost of the reception is included in admission.
