We checked in with the joyful winners to find out what they’re looking forward to during their 2015 getaway and to find out what they already love about Northern Michigan.
Winner of the Shanty Creek Getaway
Brian loves to kick off the summer with a visit to Fishtown for the annual Wine & Food Festival—where he entered to win the Shanty Creek getaway. “We also enjoy visiting the Upper Peninsula a couple times a year to visit family. We usually spend a couple of days snowmobiling and enjoying the outdoors,” says Brian. Brian’s Shanty Creek getaway includes 4 nights at the picturesque Lakeview Hotel and a generous dining gift certificate. He’ll be bringing his wife and daughter along to enjoy summertime fun in Bellaire. “We will definitely golf during our trip. We’ve never had the opportunity to play any of the courses in that area, so we are looking forward to it! We are also looking forward to visiting downtown Bellaire to shop and visit some of the great restaurants.” Brian is in for a real dream-golf experience as Shanty Creek’s course “The Legend” was recently voted Course of the Year!
Winner of the Crystal Mountain Getaway
Janna and her husband enjoy Mackinac Island getaways where her husband spent younger days working at Fort Mackinac. As the winner of the Crystal Mountain getaway, Janna is excited to be adding another Northern Michigan vacation destination to her family-fun agenda in 2015. “We’re looking forward to exploring a new area, trying new things and spending time together. Life is busy when you are young parents working full time and a family vacation will be a great time to reconnect,” says Janna. An active clan, this family is looking forward to the mountain biking and alpine slide at Crystal where there is a long list of exhilarating activities to round-out their 3 night stay. “It will be fun to do the family activities but then also take advantage of the resort’s childcare program and have a little time to relax together.” As a reader of Traverse Magazine and MyNorth.com, Janna gravitates toward the food articles and restaurant guide—”It’s fun to plan trips with particular restaurant destinations in mind.”
Winner of the Leland Lodge Getaway
Holly is looking forward to a 2-night stay at the Leland Lodge—a charming clubhouse-style lodge located on the pristine Leelanau Peninsula. She couldn’t be more excited to spend a relaxing weekend exploring Fishtown and enjoying Lake Michigan. Holly, a resident of nearby Interlochen, looks forward to sharing her vacation with her children.
Winner of the Park Place Hotel Getaway
Visiting Northern Michigan will be a first for Victor of Lancaster, Ohio. “We are looking forward to it tremendously!” says Victor. He plans on sharing the experience with his wife and his son’s family who will enjoy 4 nights lodging at the stunning Park Place Hotel located in the heart of Traverse City. Vic is most excited about trying our the variety of great restaurants Traverse City has to offer, and soaking up the summer rays on Lake Michigan. “We are not subscribers (to Traverse Magazine) yet, but now – we will have to sign up!”
