GAYLORD: The Zonta Club of Gaylord Area is offering one $500 scholarship to help any female graduating student from Otsego County to continue their college, university, or vocational education. The scholarship is to be used to defray educational expenses.

The Zonta Club of Gaylord Area is a member of Zonta International, a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. We envision a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential. In such a world, women have access to all resources and are represented in decision making positions on an equal basis with men. In such a world, no woman lives in fear of violence.

The Zonta Club of Gaylord has served the local and international community since 1976. We recognize that the ability of each woman to become self-supporting and a contributing member to society is paramount, and begins within our own local community.

We further recognize the importance of education in obtaining economic and cultural equality in our society. Since many women find it difficult or nearly impossible to pursue an education beyond high school without outside assistance, the Zonta Club of Gaylord Area has established an annual scholarship fund to be awarded to outstanding young women from our community.

The winner of this scholarship will be chosen at the May Zonta Club of Gaylord Area Business Meeting and will be notified prior to graduation.

Eligible applicants include any female who is a graduating senior, a resident of Otsego County, or attends a high school in Otsego County, and is pursuing a higher education.

Applications should be postmarked by May 1, 2015. Applications are available on our website. If further questions remain please contact Rhonda Howard, Scholarship Chairman, at 989-705-7663.
