Fustini’s Oils & Vinegars in downtown Traverse City will officially start Fustini’s School of Cooking classes on May 1. The classes teach “everything from the basics to the most advanced cooking skills.” Each class includes cooking with oils and vinegars and teaches participants how to incorporate the oils and vinegars into dishes. The classes will be held in the kitchen area in the rear part of the downtown Traverse City store.

I checked out the “soft opening” of a class this week and had a front row seat as Chef Andy Stewart prepared several dishes for a small group of people. What tasty things did we get to sample? The menu consisted of four courses including a light salad, veggie skewers, Jamaican fish curry (in this case the fish was cod) and brownie bits (or “scooby snacks” as Chef Andy referred to them).
