THOMPSONVILLE: What better way to usher in the celebration of long summer days than to sing, dance and use your imagination in a natural setting? Saturday, June 20 at Michigan Legacy Art Park is “Fairies and Forts,” with crafting, hiking and a kid’s concert featuring Miriam Pico.

From 2 to 5 pm, children of all ages are invited to create their own fort or fairy house, flower tiaras, fairies, flags, and drums. Fairy tale story time is sponsored by the Betsie Valley District Library. Children can enjoy face painting and refreshments while getting creative with crafts.

Miriam Pico is a popular singer and songwriter from Traverse City, Michigan who sings from the heart. Pico’s angelic tones are playful, engaging and joyful, and always have something meaningful to say. After the concert, Miriam will lead participants on a march to the Fort for the annual raising of the flag.

Event is free with general Art Park admission: $5 per adult, children free.

Michigan Legacy Art Park is a 501(c)(3) non-profit located on a 30-acre preserve leased by Crystal Mountain for $1 per year. Michigan Legacy Art Park features over 45 outdoor sculptures that celebrate Michigan’s culture and history along 1.6 miles of wooded hiking trails.
