Labor Day weekend—a summer reward for the work we do all year. Will you enjoy three days of frolic, or are you savoring 72 hours of a whole lot of nuthin’?  Maybe a little of both? Shanty Creek Resorts has put together packages for all kinds of fun on Labor Day Weekend. Check out the options and get Up North for Labor Day weekend!

Golf—Unlimited at Shanty Creek

Start at the driving range and bone up. Then choose from four Shanty Creek Resorts courses: Arnold Palmer’s The Legend, Tom Weiskopf’s Cedar River, the challenging Schuss Mountain course, and the Summit Golf Course. Play the whole day on any of these courses; it’s all built into your package starting at $95 per adult per night. Then spend the rest of the weekend enjoying the other activities, or add on more golf! Additional morning tee times are available for $40 or less on all four courses over Labor Day weekend.

Rollicking Rides—Mountain or E-bikes

The Summit Fitness Center is the epicenter of biking at Shanty Creek Resorts. There are two ways to enjoy area trails: traditional mountain bikes or e-bikes, electronically assisted bikes. E-bikes are motor assisted, so even if it’s been awhile since you’ve ridden, you can enjoy a trek down to Short’s Brewery and back up to your lodging.

Shanty Creek Resorts trails range from flat paved routes, to paved steep uphill climbs to open riding areas on the ski mountain. Additionally, Glacier Hills Pathway & Natural Area has more than 750-acres of a trail system suited for hiking, biking and wildlife viewing. Located 3 1/2 miles northwest of Shanty Creek’s Summit Village, and just outside of the Village of Bellaire, Glacier Hills includes an exciting trail system developed by experts from Michigan Mountain Biking Association.

Relaxin’ plus Breakfast

Perhaps your Labor Day weekend style is a leisurely breakfast and then letting the day unfold, with no real plans … Shanty Creek puts you into a Summit Village condo guest room with breakfast as low as $87 per person. Then you can add on activities as you see fit.

Torch Lake has been warming up all summer long. Head out to the sand bar or wander along the quieter shores. You can rent a wave runner, pontoon, kayak, canoe, jet boat, deck boat … whatever your water pleasure, Shanty Creek Resorts is a short trip from boat rentals along the Chain of Lakes.

Explore the Grass River Nature Area. Shanty Creek has a free shuttle two and from the preserve. Explore on your own, or ask about the Grass River Nature Area docent lead hikes. The preserve covers 1,400+ acres of woods, marshes, lakes, rivers and streams. You won’t be alone. The area is rich with wildlife including beaver, loons, cranes, coyote, bear, eagles, deer, bobcats and many many more species of birds, even yellow bellied sapsuckers.

If all of that sounds like too much action, lounge at the pool. Take a craft brewery tour at Short’s Brewing Company in nearby Bellaire. Or spend the day at the Shanty Creek Resorts spa getting a golfer’s massage, a deep relaxing hot herbal wrap or a chocolate peppermint brown sugar scrub.

However you’d like to spend Labor Day weekend, it’s been a long year of work, so enjoy your summer reward.
