CHARLEVOIX and HARBOR SPRINGS: Stafford’s Hospitality “Neighbors in Need” program is once again joining with volunteers to spread the generosity and spirit of Thanksgiving to the surrounding communities.

The staff at Stafford’s Weathervane Restaurant in Charlevoix and Stafford’s Pier Restaurant in Harbor Springs will work with local health and human service agencies such as the Salvation Army, local churches, Manna Food Project, Charlevoix Area Food Pantry, Harbor Springs Food Bank and the Women’s Resource Center to identify families in need and will be collecting donations to supply local families with Thanksgiving meals.

They are also working closely with Charlevoix’s teachers to seek families who would not request aid, but are grateful to be recipients. Last year, approximately 46 families enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving dinner thanks to the generosity of Stafford’s Weathervane staff and guests, as did 70 families thanks to the generosity of Stafford’s Pier staff and guests.

“In this difficult economic time, we are hoping to make Thanksgiving a truly memorable one for each and every family in Charlevoix County,” Marvin Morris, general manager of Stafford’s Weathervane said. “With the generous contributions of our neighbors and Stafford’s Hospitality, the possibilities are endless. Thank you to our community for the support.”

“It is always our hope that the spirit of generosity will spread,” said Jody Ewbank, General Manager of Stafford’s Pier Restaurant. “The need is great, the obligation we accept, and we hope to reach more families in 2015.”

As part of the program, Stafford’s Weathervane Restaurant employees and other volunteers will raise funds for dinners, prepare and package them in the restaurant kitchen and deliver the meals to area families. “Our staff wants to make this Thanksgiving special for everyone,” said Morris.

To make a monetary or time donation towards the Weathervane contribution, please contact Jennifer Donker or Marvin Morris at 231-547-4311. For Stafford’s Pier, contact Carol Parker or Lindsey Bur at Stafford’s Pier Restaurant, 231-526-6201 or pier@staffords.com.
