TRAVERSE CITY: The Northern Michigan Railroad Club, City of Traverse City, and the Great Lakes Children’s Museum are pleased to announce there will be a Festival of Trains for 2015. The Festival starts December 12 and runs through December 31 at the Carnegie Building (Crooked Tree Arts Center) at 322 Sixth Street in Traverse City.

Hours for the Traverse City event are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. There will be special hours on December 24 and December 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Festival will be closed on December 25. On Saturday and Sunday, December 12 and 13, the NMRRC will host their annual swap meet as part of the event.

Festival of Trains

Admission is $5 per person (ages 4 and under free). Festival Household Passes which allow for unlimited entry for two adults and children all living in the same household are also available. Festival Household Passes can be purchased in advance online for $25. Household passes purchased at the door are $30.

Groups of 10 students or more (and their chaperones) are welcome though reservations are required in advance. Information on scheduling reservations can be found online at greatlakeskids.orgtrains.

Great Lakes President Matt Missias says, “The museum is excited to be part of such a well-known and anticipated community event.”

Anyone purchasing an individual admission will receive a coupon worth $1 off admission to the Great Lakes Children’s Museum. Missias says, “If it’s been more than a year since you have visited the Children’s Museum, there are lots of new things to check out.”
