Northern Michigan wedding design and paper studio owner Sheila Dodson-Wright of Tableau Events in Petoskey is “thrilled” her work is once again being featured on national television. Probably best-known for being the lead designer for wedding papery and baby shower invitations for Good Morning America Meteorologist Ginger Zee, this time, Sheila’s wedding designs will be featured on the TODAY show.
TODAY is throwing a wedding at the Rainbow Room in NYC March 24, where viewers have voted on various elements of the planning. Sheila provided designs for the TODAY Wedding welcome sign!
We chatted with Sheila about her designs that viewers voted on, in anticipation of the March 24 live wedding on TODAY where the winning design will be revealed.
First of all, congratulations on being invited to create custom wedding welcome signs for the TODAY Wedding, broadcasting live on March 24! But this isn’t your first time in the national news limelight. Can you tell us a bit about other times your work has been featured on national television?
Thank you so much for the kind words! We’re so thrilled for the opportunity to promote Northern Michigan through the work we do on a national level. Yes, we had the pleasure of assisting celebrity wedding planner and lifestyle expert Francesco Bilotto with a wedding he planned in Northern Michigan for Meteorologist Ginger Zee a couple years back and through that connection our work has appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America, TLC’s Say Yes to The Dress and in national publications such as People.com.
Last week viewers casted their vote on which of your three custom welcome sign designs will greet guests at the TODAY Wedding. What were your inspirations behind these #TODAYWedding designs (pictured above)?
We created three distinct designs for viewers to vote on. A local inspired design featuring the Empire State Building, an Urban floral design and an Art Deco design that resonates with old New York glamour and the history of the venue in which they’ll host their reception.
Does your “gut” have a guess as to which one will win?!
Oh my, I wish I had a strong inkling, but honestly I love them all so I can’t say which one I think will win. They all definitely have their own vibe so I’m excited to see which one America voted for most!
How’s it feel to have an opportunity like this? And to represent Northern Michigan on a national level?
Honestly, I’m just so very honored and excited for the incredible people and opportunities that come our way through the exposure we are receiving on a local and national level. Without the support of our local businesses, incredibly talented Northern Michigan vendors and amazing venues we would have never had the opportunity to grow Tableau Events into what it’s becoming today.
The Tableau Events design studio is located in Petoskey and Sheila is available by appointment at the new Studio 704 Event House in Charlevoix.
