TRAVERSE CITY– The Great Lakes Equestrian Festival is off to a spectacular start. The first week of competition is complete and the second week is well underway with picture perfect Traverse City weather. If you are new to world-class equestrian competition, the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival offers something for everyone, beginning with their all-new summer concert and dinner series that kicks off this Friday, July 15, with The Dirty Bourbon River Show. With the addition of the “Summer Evenings at Flintfields” concert series, Flintfields Horse Park is a great location to mix horses, local cuisine and music together in one picturesque spot.

  • Friday, July 15:  Dirty Bourbon River Show, New Orleans Funk, Jazz and Americana with New Orleans Cajun Cuisine
  • Friday, July 22: The Ragbirds, Indie-pop, global rhythms, and folk music with Paella
  • Sunday, July 24: Olate Dogs, Winners of America’s Got Talent, with hot dogs, brats & BBQ
  • Friday, July 29: Joshua Davis Quartet, Americana, Folk, Rock, and Blues with Paella

Doors open at 6 p.m. with the show starting at 7 p.m. Show organizers suggest arriving early to check out the last round of competition at 2 p.m. Bring a blanket or low chair for lawn seating and prepare yourself for a fun night of live music, food and drinks on the lawn. Tickets are available at www.mynorthtickets.com or at the door the day of the event. More information regarding closing weekend celebrations (August 26 and 28) will be announced soon.

Situated just outside of Traverse City, Flintfields has 88 beautiful acres and showcases five world-class competition rings. The venue is the home base of the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival from July 6- 31 and August 10- 28. In addition to the concert series, festival-goers can visit the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival during the week free of charge, but might want to consider attending on Sundays for Olympic-caliber show jumping in the weekly 2 p.m. Grand Prix.
