October 1: The Big Draw Day at Dennos – The Big Draw offers enjoyable drawing activities, which connect people of all ages with museums, outdoor spaces, artists, designers, illustrators and each other. These events are for those who love to draw, as well as for those who think they can’t! 12 to 4 p.m. at the Dennos Museum, Traverse City. 231.995.1055.

October 1: Empire Hops Festival – Located on Front Street, between Union & La Rue. Great beer, food and music from noon to 8 p.m. A $15 entry fee includes a complimentary glass and drink tickets. FREE parking in Johnson Park, to the north of Front Street.

October 1: Annual Bite of Beaver Island – See what the best professional and amateur chefs on the Island have to offer and sample a wide variety of treats from noon to 2 p.m. at the Community Center, 231.448.2505.

October 1: Trek the Mighty Mac on ATV – This is a historical ride where ATVs, side-by-sides, and off-road motorcycles are permitted to ride across the Mackinac Bridge (limited to 20 mph, quiet machines, no showing off). The ride begins in St. Ignace heading north. For more information and registration call 906.643.6950.

October 2: Sweet Water Warblers – This powerful trio of female singer-songwriters will touch you deeply while burning a lasting smile in your heart with their soulful voices, fine musicianship and elevating harmonies. October 3: Breast Cancer Awareness Event – Two short, inspirational films and a community panel at the State Theatre in Traverse City at 6 p.m. Free admission, 231.947. 3446.

October 3-8: Beer Week in Frankfort – Celebrate all that is great about craft beer in Michigan and do it in the cool, scenic, foodie town of Frankfort. Those who appreciate craft beer and delicious food know that the best things come from small-batch attention and creativity from people who care about the total experience. Nightly beer tasting, concerts, food events and tap takeovers. This event coincides with the Frankfort Fall Festival.
