Planetary Coffee, a roving specialty coffee shop, has resumed its orbit around Traverse City and beyond, serving out-of-this-world seasonal offerings and craft beverages.

Traverse City’s first coffee truck relaunched back into orbit Monday, April 10, with a soft opening outside Press On Juice. “We’re overjoyed to get back out on the road for our first full season” shared Erik Harms, who co-owns Planetary Coffee with wife Emily Wilensky, “Traverse City is such a great community and we had a blast last summer serving coffee around town and getting a feel for what locations and type of events are a good fit for us.”

Planetary CoffeeThe couple got a small taste of the food-truck scene in Traverse City after launching their mobile coffee shop last August. “We had hoped to get up and running sooner last year,” says Wilensky. “Even though we missed out on the bulk of the 2016 summer season, we were still able to gain a lot of insights into the operations of our unique mobile setup.” Both Harms and Wilensky agree that they are in a really solid place going into their second season of operations after having made some upgrades to their food truck.

Both Harms and Wilensky agree that they are in a really solid place going into their second season of operations after having made some upgrades to their coffee shop on wheels over the off-season. “It’s so much more user-friendly now,” says Harms, who did all of the renovations himself. “Having the day-to-day operations running really efficiently will allow us to put all of the focus on providing excellent coffee service and making sure the customer has a great experience.”

For the 2017 season, you’ll find Planetary Coffee orbiting in and around Traverse City serving seasonal coffees, teas, and locally sourced pastries, from a variety of public and private events and rotating weekday locations. “Planetary’s calendar for 2017 is really filling up,” says Wilensky. “We are super excited for all of the upcoming local events we have the opportunity to attend this year.” Events include an upcoming RPM Vinyl Record Show hosted at Right Brain Brewery on April 30, celebrating Smart Commute Week at the Filling Station Microbrewery with TART Trails, and hanging at the Keystone Soccer Complex for TBAYS spring soccer season.” Keep an eye on their website and social media pages to see where you can cross paths with this roving specialty coffee shop.
