Northern Michigan’s largest event calendar, the MyNorth Calendar, highlights the amazing things going on across the North—from Frankfort, Cedar and Traverse City to Charlevoix, Beaver Island and the Mackinaw City. Each week, we pick our favorite events to share with you. Curated by MyNorth’s Calendar Editor, Libby Stallman, here’s what’s happening Up North!

Frankfort48 | June 22–24
Aspiring filmmakers and those with photography and film interests are invited come to Frankfort on June 22 to create a 3–5-minute film celebrating the beauty of Northern Michigan. Participants will have 48 hours to conceive their idea, scout locations, film, edit and present their masterpieces. Prizes will be awarded to the top three filmmakers. The public is invited to attend the film showing featuring the winning films on June 24 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $10.

Michigan Clean Energy Conference & Fair | June 23–25
Groundwork and the Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association are teaming up to hold this three-day event in Traverse City designed to mobilize clean energy investments in Michigan homes, businesses and communities. Keynote speakers include former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm and Mary Powell, CEO of Green Mountain Power in Vermont. Join us to see how Michiganders are creating a locally grown, clean energy economy.

Annual Cedar Polka Festival | June 22–25

Summer Solstice Art Show | June 24–25
The Charlevoix Summer Art Show features a mix of fine art and fine crafts displayed on the shores of  Round Lake in downtown Charlevoix. Participating artists are carefully selected to ensure a well-rounded show with many fun items on display. East Park, Charlevoix, 231.547.2101.

Grass River Natural Area Story Time | June 23
Each week enjoy a short children’s story and an activity or a hike on the beautiful trails at Grass River. For young children ages 4 and up, but all ages welcome. $5 per child. Larger groups please call ahead, 231.533.8314. On June 24, catch the Grass River Natural Area Benefit concert featuring Vox Vidorra & Turbo Pup on the shores of Torch Lake in Alden. Food, beer and wine available for purchase.

Beaver Island Bike Festival | Through June 25
Bikers ride at their own pace and enjoy incredible scenery, island monuments, historic sites and more.  Each route will include rest stops where food, drinks, and bathrooms are available. The downtown party will provide dinner, music and entertainment well into the evening. 231.342.2003.

Traverse City Wine & Cider Festival | June 24
Visit the 9th annual Traverse City Wine & Cider Festival to celebrate local wine, food and culture. Get a true taste of the region with great wines, art, food trucks and live musical entertainment all in one location! Village at Grand Traverse Commons, Traverse City.

Charlevoix Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & 5K | June 24  
Kicks off at 6:30 a.m.

Run For Shelter 5K | June 24  
A 5K run/walk benefitting the Goodwill Inn Homeless Shelter. Willow Hill Elementary School, Traverse City. Registration and packet pick up is held between 8–8:45 a.m. in the cafeteria. The race starts at 9 a.m.

East Jordan Freedom Festival | June 27
