The 42nd annual North American Vasa Festival of Races will be staged at Timber Ridge Resort in Traverse City on the weekend of February 10–11.

A series of freestyle ski races as well as fat bike races will be held on Saturday the 10th and three classic style races will be staged on Sunday the 11th. The recent snow, the expert grooming of three grooming teams, and predicted cold nights will ensure the best race conditions of the year.

This year the Vasa will have two title co-sponsors, Short’s Brewing Company and Chemical Bank. For the first time ever, the Vasa will recognize individuals of great meaning to our history. Several key races are known as follows;  George Kuhn Half Marathon (28k freestyle); Ted Okerstrom Marathon (50km freestyle); the Chemical Bank Classic (16km classic) and the George Lombard Loppet(34km classic). The two fat bike races will be known as the Short’s Short n Fat (18km) and the Shorts Grand Fat (42km).

In addition, the annual Vasa Pasta Feed will be held at the Timber Ridge banquet hall from 5–8 p.m. on Friday, February 9. A full schedule of all events as well as start times, registration and all things Vasa can be viewed at www.vasa.org or by calling 231.409.4421.
