Mandy Toomey, a Traverse City native and new mom, is publishing a children’s book called Goodnight Traverse City, a Northern Michigan-inspired spinoff of the popular children’s book, Goodnight Moon. Goodnight Traverse City features popular locations in the Traverse area such as Moomers, M-22, State Theatre, and the Sleeping Bear Dunes. It also showcases gorgeous illustrations by Jim Dewildt, detailing the experience of what traveling Up North feels like to kids.

The almost tangible affection Mandy expresses toward Traverse City in her book makes it the perfect bedtime choice for kids everywhere. After becoming a mom, she felt inspired to write Goodnight Traverse City and leave her career in country music behind. Although she currently lives in Tennessee, she will be back in Traverse City in July for a book release at Horizon Books (event details here).

Toomey is donating 10% of the profits from Goodnight Traverse City back to the TCAPS school lunch assistance program. This program helps pay overdue lunch balances for families in need.
