Celebrate Mackinac Island’s rich history and blooming lilacs during the 70th Annual Mackinac Island Lilac FestivalJune 8–17.

This 10-day festival has everything from concerts to culinary events, horse-drawn carriage tours, the Lilac Festival 10K, Mackinac Island Dog and Pony Show, and of course the Lilac Festival Grand Parade. There’s something for everyone!

Mackinac Island Lilac Festival Featured Events

Lilac Festival  10K Run/Walk
Saturday, June 9th • 9:30 a.m. • Windermere Point
Each year, more than 700 participants travel to the island to take in the early-season beauty. The course will provide you with beautiful sights of the island. This is certainly a race you don’t want to miss!

Family Fun Area • June 8–10 & 15–17
Hours vary daily • Windermere Point
Jump, climb, crawl, squeeze, and slide! There is fun for kids and adults of all ages. Be sure to stop by and color your way around Mackinac Island on the 15-foot customized coloring mural.

Dog & Pony Parade
Saturday, June 16, 10 a.m.
This zany parade of costumed pooches and ponies will give you a grin from ear to ear. The parade takes place on the M-185 starting at Mackinac Island Public School and ending at Windermere Point. Head to the boardwalk for the best seats.

Lilac Festival Grand Parade
Sunday, June 17 • 4 p.m.
Celebrating Mackinac’s lilac collection began in 1949. The idea was to bring people to the island to enjoy a beautiful horse-drawn parade amidst the lovely lilacs in June. What began as a one-day event called Mackinac Island Lilac Day has blossomed into a 10-day festival.
