Let’s face it, no one really needs an excuse to enjoy a beer or two. But imagine how much better that beer would taste knowing your money was spent supporting a local community. Sign me up, right? The Keweenaw Community Foundation’s annual Keweenaw Brewfest is back and better than ever. The Northern Michigan event will be held Saturday, August 25 at Kestner Waterfront Park in Houghton.

With more than 50 breweries, 200 beers, live music, and local food vendors, this fundraiser and beer festival is nothing short of a good time. However, this year is a little different. The Keweenaw Community Foundation hopes this will be their best year yet despite the tragedy that struck the Houghton area. On June 17, a massive storm system flooded Houghton County on the Keweenaw Peninsula creating sinkholes and destroying roads. An estimated 900 homes were damaged according to an article by Wisconsin Public Radio.

“We are Copper Country Strong and will get through this together as a community,” says Lisa Broemer with the Keweenaw Community Foundation.

Keweenaw Brewfest tickets

The Keweenaw Brewfest will be an awesome gathering to celebrate community and good beer—two things that make our beloved Mitten so great. Tickets are available at MyNorthTickets.com, the Keweenaw Community Foundation office (236 Quincy Street, Hancock), and at the Keweenaw Brewing Company (408 Shelden Ave, Houghton).

All proceeds raised during the event will go to the foundation. MyNorth Media is also happy to support relief efforts by donating a portion of ticket fees back to the foundation.

If your business would like to sponsor this event, please call the Keweenaw Community Foundation for more information.
