We are so excited to have chef, former farmer, and author of the forthcoming Ruffage: a Practical Guide to Vegetables Abra Berens with us Thursday, April 25th! For those of you unfamiliar with Abra, she started her farming and writing career in Northport, co-founding Bare Knuckle Farm in 2009 with Jess Piskor. In 2014, she began writing a regular food column for the Record Eagle. These columns were the foundation to her first book, Ruffage.
The evening will include an introduction from Record Eagle senior editor Allison Batdorff who edited the majority of Abra’s columns and a discussion about the role of local newspapers in developing regional and national food media as well as the ins and outs of writing a cookbook followed by appetizers prepared by our chefs from Abra’s book.
