The Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra Sunday Series presents:
Mozart Clarinet Quintet and the Brass Quintet

Sunday, February 24 at 4:00pm
First Presbyterian Church, 7940 Cemetery Road, Harbor Springs

Amy Glover, clarinetist, will join violinists, Paul Sonner and Kaylee Erlewein, Ann Schoelles, viola and cellist, Elizabeth Bert performing the Mozart Quintet for Clarinet and String Quartet, in A Major, K 581. This clarinet quintet written in 1789 for the clarinetist Anton Stadler, is a work for one clarinet and a string quartet (two violins, a viola and a cello). Although originally written for bass clarinet, in contemporary performances it is usually played on a clarinet in A or B-flat for convenience sake. It was Mozart’s only completed clarinet quintet, and is one of the earliest and best-known works written especially for the instrument. It remains to this day one of the most admired of the composer’s works. The quintet is sometimes referred to as the Stadler Quintet.
