Robert Downes, author of Windigo Moon, presents Life in Native America 400 Years Ago, focusing on the Ojibwa and Odawa Indians of the Upper Great Lakes. Downes’s digital slide presentation will include: The apocalyptic 1500s, known to historians as “The Lost Century” due to the devastating effect of foreign diseases on Native peoples. The customs, myths, supernatural beings and beliefs of Native people. Life through the seasons and the roles of men and women. How we might benefit from the example of Native beliefs. The heroic stand of the Ojibwa and Odawa against their forced removal from their ancestral homes.
