The Traverse City Pit Spitters have started a Reading Club for “March is Reading Month!” The program is designed for grades K-8 and will run from March 1st – 31st.
Kids enrolled in the program will be asked to read 15 minutes every day next month, and if they do, they will receive two tickets to a Pit Spitters home game.
“The Traverse City Pit Spitters are committed to becoming an integral part of the Northern Michigan community, and the Reading Club is one of the first steps to achieving this goal,” said Britani Eaton, Manager of Promotions and Community Engagement. “We’re looking forward to hosting all of the kids that participate in this program for lots of fun and family-friendly entertainment.”
Schools can sign up for the program at www.pitspitters.com or call the front office at 231.943.0100.
The Pit Spitters open the 2019 Northwoods League season at home on Tuesday, May 28 against the Green Bay Booyah. Tickets for this game and all other 2019 Pit Spitters games will go on sale later this year.
The Traverse City Pit Spitters are in their first year as a member of the Northwoods League. The Northwoods League is a 22-team collegiate summer baseball league which plays from the end of May through mid-August. Last fall a group of investors led by the West Michigan Whitecaps purchased the stadium and started up the new franchise.
